in full bloom

H&M Newbury yielded by far the bulk of my purchases during my retail voyage with Sharon. It was there that I found a lone pair of black bloomers, à la Miu Miu Spring 2008, two sizes too big for me. Recalling Fops and Dandies with her too-small vintage find, I quickly snatched the H&M version up and whisked them away to the dressing room.
Once in the dressing rooms, my co-conspirator and I consulted each other on various pieces. I was already pretty sure that I'd get them, but when Sharon gave the enthusiastic thumbs up for the outfit combo below (yes, the black ruffle top is another H&M score), the fate of the bloomers was sealed.
Though a little on the loose side, the waistband is easily hoisted up with my black skinny belt. The larger size adds extra volume. Given that I like distorted proportions, things turned out for the best. Meanwhile, angry vintage pointy-toe sandals by Connie top off the look. Have I ever said that I like to wear full black outfits? Well, I do. To the dark side and beyond!

Pardon my ignorance, but those are wearing on the outside bloomers meant to be worn on the outside?
You look whimsical! And darling! Very neo-Victorian chic. Mrs. Prada knows her stuff, and so do the sneaky designers at H&M.
wooow! that outfit is stunning! better than the miu miu above
Nicely labeled Sharon! Neo-Victorian indeed. This is such a fun way to wear all black but still look summery, job well done working with the wrong size!
I like very much, well done you.
I love how you managed to make head to toe black look so spring-like and youthful. *points both thumbs upward*
you look like you're trying too hard to copy Susie Bubble.
I love dressing in black head to toe as well! Although I wouldn't dare do such a thing on a day as hot as this..
The bloomers look great by the way. Though I don't find them very Miu Miu-esque, I think that they are a fierce rendition of the pantaloon worn by those 17th fusty British royal types.
Blooming in bloomers! I am a fan of colorful outfit, but I also love to wear total black. A bit contraddictory, I know ;-)
I love head to toe black!
The bloomers look fantastic, not too out-there, but just enough quirkiness!
I didn't know the newbury store carried the trend line! That makes me immensely happy, and I love your bloomers!
I love the silhouette you've created here. It's very on-trend without being overwhelming and it's very personal, which is the most interesting part of dressing. Glamfabulous.
I think I would like the bloomers more if they were even MORE exaggerated and more poofy...somehow, they just look like loose-ish shorts but of course you still look great... I guess I'm yearnign for something more bloomerish...me thinks I need to consult Helena Bonham Carter on the matter....
Lovee the dress!
Those look fantastic. I think the solid color outfit really makes you pay attention to the volume and shapes you created. I like the black too.
Those bloomers look fantastic.
The black really emphasises the shape. I'm so jealous of them!
Ha! To the dark side and beyond indeed! ;) I actually quite like these...Wish I had a shopping co conspirator :)
Cute!
I love this look. All black outfits always look classy.
WOW! you have an awesome blog! I love your black dress, it looks lovely on you!
Wow, you worked those bloomers. Well done.
you look so cute lady!!
For something that was the wrong size, you worked it amazingly!
And I am very glad I am not the only black lover. It's a slight obsession from my hardcore rock chick days that will probably never go away (not that I would want it to! black is always gorgeous imo)
Oh god they are amazing!!
you look awesome!!!! i loooove dressing in all black. makes me feel super cool but chic.
Love them! I saw them at H&M but didn't try them on. I guess I should have because they look absolutely fabulous on you. I really like how you styled them!
you rocked the outfit ! great job!

i love the miu miu look and have been looking for something similar (good luck to me hah!). loving the look on you as always :)
you look fantastic!!!
You look really quite fabulous in those Miu Miu esque bloomers, I love!
haha! i have those bloomer shorts from h&m too -- and the first thing i thought of was AHHH MIU MIU! i was able to get my size in them, but i have to agree with susie that i wish they were more voluminous, instead of just poufy at the bottom. i've tried wearing them under my topshop miu-miu knockoff skirt and i have to say they poofed up the outfit significantly.
Love the all black look.
I'm very pear shaped, but I've decided to embrace it and draw attention to my hips with some of my outfits. Those bloomers would be perfect, and I bet they're super comfy.
*le sigh* The H&M's near me have nothing but basics. If I wanted basics, I'd go to Old Navy!
Regarding volume, you have to stuff them. The Elizabethan puffy pants were stuffed with fur. Rags might work.
