Now we peel back another layer of the onion that is the not-so-secret life of dreamecho. What do we find? We find, firstly, that dreamecho typically looks scornfully upon those who speak in the third person. She deems it babyish and pretentious; such qualities seriously grate on her nerves. This case is no exception, and dreamecho slumps in front of her laptop irritated and bewildered as to why she starting writing in third person in the first place. Well, she reasons, it is an exercise in writing and a hopefully interesting way to change up the normal pace of this blog. She was also grasping at straws for a beginning sentence; the first thing that popped into her head was, "Now we peel back another layer....." After much deliberation, she decides to discontinue with the third-person method for the time being. Perhaps she will pick it up again in another entry.
Although I've discarded talking in third person, I'd still like to continue with the onion metaphor. I am, in fact, peeling off another layer to reveal simply this: I like physical activity. I harbor no aversions to running, throwing, jumping, kicking, pedaling, paddling and the inevitable sweating that comes along with these activities. In fact, I take joy in the awareness of my body's abilities and power, in the mental discipline that is necessary to push through the rough patches, and in discovering beauty in the natural world. It's an empowering thing, exercise. I honestly stand up taller and feel more capable after pushing myself to my limit.
One of my favorite things to do is hiking, something I'll hopefully be doing a lot of during my upcoming camping trip in New Hampshire. Bicycling has become another pleasure of mine, albeit at the initial persistence of my sweetheart. ("[Insert special secret pet name here], come look at this fixed gear bicycle on the Internet! Dontcha just want to buy one now? I just can't wait 'til we go cycling together. It'll be so much fun!") And, originally hailing from a tropical island, I am no stranger swimming and snorkeling.

lady, this is fantastic. when i see those sporty-chic spreads in magazines, they're so predictable since they all use the same items (norma kamali swimsuits, stella mccartney for adidas, etc.). so your hiking boots and cycling jacket inject new life into a stale concept.
and good for you for liking to exercise. me, i like the idea of exercise, but i'm too slothful to do follow through with it.
I hope you get a lot of hiking in on your camping trip!

I love love love that 1st outfit, esp. the dress
Candid Cool, your comments are always much appreciated. the dress was actually my HS prom dress!
LC, you're right about the predictability. i was thinking of another common sporty-chic label: Y-3. at one point i thought of throwing my stella for adidas pieces into the mix, but decided to keep away from designer-designed-athletic gear. that would have defeated the purpose of my post, yeah? :)
as for exercise, i'm not too big on exercise just to stay fit. that can be a drag. but exercise that comes from hiking to see a stunning view and find some natural peace - that, i can dig.
wow great style, great blog.
Thanks for adding my link.
Just added yours back.

i love your first outfit! first thought was how wonderfully dramatic... and not only does it provide that athletic touch, the fingerless bike gloves really gives the outfit an edge, taking it away from a potentially just pretty/ girly look.
f&art, i love your blog!
liquidspace, i was hoping to achieve an edge with the gloves...so i'm glad to hear i succeeded. :)
heads up: i'm going to tag you!
you are the third person to tag me! i've been being delinquent on this tagging thing; la primavera and liquidspace tagged me a while back. you know what's funny is that i was going to tag YOU! i guess that's what i get for waiting too long. now i have no one left to tag...
well, hop to it, then! :) three people are anxiously waiting to learn more about you-
btw, did you check CoC? they have this deal on an additional 20% off for 3 items or more, which amounts to 60% total. does this mean that's it for the sale, or are they just getting closer to 75%?!
and i saw that your burfitt pants are no longer up! did you manage to get a pair?
i checked CoC earlier today, but i must have missed the fine print! i don't know what this means for the sale, either. i think a lot of the stock wasn't moving at 50% off, so she's (the owner) probably lowering the prices slowly in the hopes that people will take the bait sooner rather than later. i have my fingers crossed (mostly for you, because i think i might buy before i go) that the prices will drop to 75 off soon!
no, i didn't get the burfitt pants! i really wanted them, but i actually was starting to doubt whether i should get them because of the sizing. the pants were in an S, which usually i'd assume i'd fit into, but i have a burfitt skirt in an S and i have to tie the drawstring really tight to keep it up. these pants didn't have belt loops or anything, so it would have been a big gamble anyway if i had gotten them. i'll be okay w/o them. :)
about the tagging thing: i may not post my 7 random things before i go. i hope you can handle the suspense....
Your outfits are amazing. So glad I found your blog.
thank you, olivegrey!
the first outfit reminds me of nicole ritchie's simplistic black maxi dresses she always wears
but love it
hanah an, thanks for the compliment! i take no offense to being compared to nicole richie :)
